Endometriosis coping types: who are you?

Endometriosis and coping styles

In this article, I talk about why it is so important to understand how you think about illness and health, what your understanding of illness is and how it affects your coping and health behaviour.

Why is this important?

Because if you are aware of these things about yourself, it will be much easier for you to assess what your weaknesses are, where things can go wrong, what you should pay attention to, and also what your resources are that you can rely on, that you should emphasise and underline in your strategy.

If you know your strengths and weaknesses, if you know what resources you can mobilise, you will no longer feel like a failure. You won't want something on the road to recovery that is incredibly far from you, but you will find ways to use your personal preferences to do what you can for yourself, for your goals.

Let me give you a very simple example. If your self-awareness is solid and you know you have a hard time waking up and your mornings are hectic, it's unrealistic to start the day with a fresh juice of your own making. While it's very healthy and megafinom, peeling apples, peeling beets, slow pressing and then cleaning up... it's not the most breakfast-friendly or philanthropic procedure if you have to be in your workplace by eight.

But if you prepare your breakfast in the evening, like a delicious overnight porridge or a lemon-avocado sandwich, you won't be rushing to work to get a pastry full of soy, sugar and white flour.
