Christmas and conception - what is the link?

Statistics show that most babies are born in mid-September.

Starting from this date, counting backwards from the time of pregnancy shows that the highest conception rate occurs during the December holidays. What could be the reason for this?

It's only logical to think about it: the pre-holiday rush at work is over, the gift-hunting in crowded shopping malls is over, and when the guests leave in the evening, we can finally let go. We can relax after a year's work and feel more relaxed, calmer, and finally have time to really spend with each other.

All of this has a fertility-boosting effect because stress, constant rushing and hurrying have been proven to reduce the chances of successful conception. The female cycle is affected by chronic stress, cognitive and affective states.

In the presence of persistently high stress levels, a hormone called CRH (corticotropic releasing hormone), a stress hormone that inhibits the production of GnRH and LH.

GnRH is responsible for reproduction and sexual function, LH for sperm formation in men and ovulation in women. In addition, acute and chronic stress increases PRL (If you feel you can't cope with the stress you are under, pay more attention to healthy eating, exercise, learn relaxation techniques, or seek the help of a psychologist.)

I wish that this Christmas is all about relaxation and recharging, and for those of you who have a baby project, think of this article during the Holidays 😀
